PRAYING ABOUT CORONAVIRUS

Coronavirus is still here. So let’s keep praying.

Just like we said on the info about praying for Ukraine, when facing something as huge as the Coronavirus pandemic, it can be hard to know how to pray. So we’ve suggested four different things to pray about.

Pray for as many (or few) of these as you want. Or you could aim to pray for a different area each day for the next five days.

Suggestion #1 // Pray for healthcare workers

Lord Jesus, You taught us to love our neighbour and to care for those in need as if we were caring for You. Thank You for all those who have cared for us, and who continue to care for us. Comfort, bless and protect them, and give them skill and resilience.

Amen.

Suggestion #2 // Pray for the vulnerable

God of compassion, be close to those who are ill, afraid or in isolation. In their loneliness, be their consolation; in their anxiety, be their hope; in their darkness, be their light; through him who suffered alone on the cross, but reigns with You in glory, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Suggestion #3 // Pray for those who are ill

Merciful God, we entrust to Your tender care those who are ill or in pain, knowing that whenever danger threatens, Your everlasting arms are there to hold them safe. Comfort and heal them, and restore them to health and strength; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Suggestion #4 // Pray for poorer countries

Father, we know that we are blessed to live in a place where Coronavirus is largely under control. But we also know that there are places in the world that are still struggling. Be near all who are ill in those places, but especially be with leaders, decision makers, and healthcare workers in those countries.

Amen.

Suggestion #5 // Prayer Activity…write on a facemask

Over the past couple of years we’ve used facemasks to help protect those people around us.

Take a paper facemask from the bowl below and write on it a prayer, the name of a person, or write one (or all) of the areas mentioned on this board. Take it away with you, tuck it in your Bible, or hang it up in your home or maybe your car. Whenever you see it, let it remind you, and prompt you to pray.

Lastly, before you go…

Don’t forget to let us know you’ve visited so we can pray for you too. You can do that here.
