VOLUNTEERING

Here at St Stephen’s, none of our weekly services, work with children and young people, outreach, pastoral care, cafes or chaplaincy to local care homes would be possible without our incredible volunteers. And in addition to making a real difference to others, our volunteers often find that being on a team helps them build long-lasting friendships.

So here are some of the volunteering opportunities available now. Please get in touch if you’re interested.

Who Let The Dads Out? chair movers:

Our Who Let The Dads Out? group meets one Saturday a month, regularly welcoming hundreds of dads, male carers and their children. This requires us to clear the chairs from St Stephen’s, and put them back again ready for our Sunday services.

We are looking for some more volunteers to join our team of chair movers. This could be every month, or as often as you are able.

I’m interested.

Maintenance, cleaning, etc:

We regularly run Work Days to help us look after our buildings, gardens, etc. If you would like to help (either at our next Work Day or at a time that is convenient for you) we would love to hear from you. Current tasks include:

  • Cleaning windows
  • Replacing light bulbs
  • Gardening
  • Cleaning fridges and freezers
  • Clearing drains
  • Painting

I’m interested.

Sprinkles Group (age 2 to 4) leaders:

Our Sprinkles Group meets during our 10.30am Sunday services and we regularly welcome up to 21 children aged 2-4. The children spend a lot of the session in free play, and a short time as a group listening to a story, singing, praying and making a craft.

We need at least two new helpers to join this ministry after Easter 2019, on a one-in-three week basis. With five adults on each of the three Sprinkles teams, this can be a great way to get to know other people and families in the church.

As with all roles working with children, you will need to complete a DBS, safer recruitment and online safeguarding training.

I’m interested.

Twinkles Group (age 0 to 2) leaders:

Our Twinkles Group is our creche that runs during our 10.30am Sunday services. This supports parents with young babies (under two years).

We are looking for one more leader for this group. Some parents stay with their cildren, but there are always two leaders and a maximum of four babies. You will be on a rota; one-in-three weeks. Leaders must be caring, comfortable with looking after babies and happy chatting to parents. No baby changing required.

As with all roles working with children, you will need to complete a DBS, safer recruitment and online safeguarding training.

I’m interested.
