COMING OUT OF LOCKDOWN
Coming out of lockdown
It has been wonderful to be able to meet and worship together once again, so we wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how we see things changing over the months ahead (this is, of course, dependent on the national situation, as well as on the availability of our volunteers).
Our current in-person service restrictions will remain (including booking in advance, wearing masks, social distancing and not singing), apart from standing for worship which we are now doing each Sunday.
However, changes to the national picture mean we can now meet with up to 30 people outside. So, we are hoping to be able to continue to serve tea and coffee outside after our 10.30am service each week. To ensure we comply with the 30 person gathering limit, we may need to serve this in two locations: in the church garden and also in the churchyard. This will be weather permitting and also dependent on our volunteers.
From Sunday 25th July
At this time most of the national restrictions should end, meaning we will no longer need to restrict the numbers allowed into our church building. Consequently, from 25th July you won’t need to book in advance for services or wear masks. We should also be able to sing and are hoping to have live music as we worship together again. Additionally, we will also be allowed to serve coffee indoors so we’re hoping this will be able to resume from this date. At this time, we are likely to stop our after-service coffee on Zoom.
Please note that our staff team have already begun planning for the restart of our children’s groups on Sunday mornings. However, they won’t be able to begin again just yet. We are well aware that our children and young people have missed out on so much, but we are aiming to restart Sunday groups on 12th September. In the meantime, we will be continuing with our online groups throughout the week.
Throughout August our 10.30am services will continue as above with a few differences. As we have missed meeting together in person for so much of the last year, during August we are planning to serve breakfast before our 10.30am services to allow us to spend more time with one another. In addition, on 15th August instead of our usual 10.30am service we are planning a picnic in the park. Meanwhile, we will have a simple service at St Stephen’s for anyone who is unable to make the picnic. More details will follow in the coming months. This is, once again, weather permitting.
From Sunday 12th September
From this date we are hoping to be able to restart groups on Sunday mornings for our youth and children. This is a significant date for us, as it is the time when all our church family are able to meet together in one place again.
Before lockdown began we were running three services each Sunday (9am, 10.30am and 6.30pm) and a midweek service (10am on Wednesdays). Our leadership team are looking at when we restart additional services, but we want to keep everyone safe and we want to look after our volunteers and staff team, so we will be doing this gradually. More information to follow.
Please click here to visit our services page to book in to forthcoming services. Please note we will have a limited number of spaces available.
With love from Mark and the staff team
