ARE YOU NEW TO PRAYER?
Prayer is simply talking with God.
We can pray anytime, anywhere and about anything. We don’t have to be in a church, use special words. God is listening. He wants to hear from us.
We can pray by talking, thinking, or writing; we can even try drawing, crafting, or painting whatever we want to express. So why not start a conversation with Him today? On this board are some easy ways to start.
We recommend you start by glancing over the following suggestions. Pick one that you are most drawn to, or the one you think looks easiest, and go for it. When you’ve finished, you can pick another one, or move on to one of the other boards.
Suggestion #1 // Pray the prayer Jesus taught.
The Lord’s Prayer is one of the most famous prayers in the world. It’s a short and simple prayer that Jesus taught his closest friends, and it is still prayed by Christians around the world today. Read His words and make them your prayer…
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever.
Amen.” *
Try praying The Lord’s Prayer again and this time put each sentence into your own words adding what you want to say to God today?

(* You can find the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew, chapter 6 verses 9-13.)
Suggestion #2 // P.R.A.Y.
Use this simple acronym to help you talk to God:
P Pause; breathe deeply and be still in God’s presence.
R Rejoice; Think about your day/days/week. What’s been good? Thank God for it.
A Ask; Think about things going on in your life, or the lives of those you love. Ask God to help you and those you care about.
Y Yes; Say “Yes” to God, and His plans and His presence into your day.
Suggestion #3 // Prayer Activity…write a message to God.
What do you want to say to God today? Grab a pen and some paper (if you’re visiting our prayer space we’ll have some by the ‘New to prayer?’ board), or open the notes on your phone. Write to God like you’re messaging a friend. Tell God, how you’re feeling, what you’re thinking about, anything that’s worrying you and what you want His help with.
When you’re finished, save your note or keep your letter somewhere safe. Practice this every day and get into the habit of reading your old messages to see how your feelings and circumstances have changed.
