THY KINGDOM COME
‘Thy Kingdom Come’ is all about joining with Christians all over the world for 11 days of prayer starting on Thursday 13th May 2021.
This year we won’t be opening St Stephen’s for Thy Kingdom Come prayer specifically or asking you to attend any events, but instead we’ll providing resources to pray wherever you are, whenever you are able.
Not sure what we’re talking about?
If the Thy Kingdom Come prayer days are new to you, here’s a video to help you find out what it is all about and how it got started:
Can you pray for five people?
One of the main things about Thy Kingdom Come is simply about praying for five people you know to come to know Jesus. There are so many ways you can do that. You can use a band and tie five knots, each one representing one of your five to remind you. Or maybe each time you drink a cup of tea or coffee you could remember to pray. You could write their names on your bathroom mirror. Or perhaps you could pray during your daily exercise such as running or walking. Here’s a video from the brilliant Rt Revd Dr John Sentamu as he encourages us to pray for five people we know:
DIY Prayer walk
How about walking through your local area and praying for all who live, work or go to school there? Perhaps on your own or with a friend? If you haven’t done it before and don’t know what to do or where to start, here’s a really helpful guide thanks to Pete Greig and the people at The Prayer Course.
Finally, be part of something global
As we aren’t meeting together to pray right now it can feel like we’re on our own…but we’re not! To see how you are participating with thousands of others, visit the Light up the World page here on the Thy Kingdom Come website and add your details. When you do you will add a star to the map of the world, showing people praying for five people in their community.
