Mission

St Stephen’s is an active part of the community in South Tonbridge, and we run and host a number of community projects for all ages, most notably through our community hub Living Well Tonbridge. But our community support is not just confined to our own town, as we reach out to help those in need beyond our immediate area.

Mission Action Group

St Stephen’s Church, through its Mission Action Group, supports a number of partnerships throughout the UK and the world with the vision to Love our World, showing God’s love by helping them to improve their lives and spreading the Christian Gospel. The Mission Action Group also send funds to aid in disasters and responds to one-off requests for funding.

In Tonbridge

In addition to our community hub, we also have strong strong links with Tonbridge Area Churches Together and support local charity, High Hopes which actively shares the good news of the gospel with children in the local area.

In the UK

And our support for community projects is not just confined to Tonbridge or even Kent. We also reach out into other communities in the UK. An example of this is our relationship with Eden, Walsall.

In the UK

As well as serving communities in our own country, we’re also committed to the wider church; we want all people in all parts of the world to have the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.

In Europe

Among those we support further afield is the Charis Foundation in Romania. Charis is a Christian mission that aims to change the community by showing God’s love in practical ways.

In Africa

In Africa, we work in partnership with 10 villages close to Matongoro to the north of Mpwapwa Diocese in the central highlands of Tanzania. Here, we are funding a Church and Community Mobilisation Programme (CCMP) through Tearfund.

Other organisations we support

We also periodically support a number of missionary societies, financially and through personal contact with individuals.

Through our Mission Action Group, we send money to disaster relief appeals. We also use this fund to support members of the church who go on short-term mission projects – students in their gap years, for example.
