MISSION

We are an active part of the community in South Tonbridge, running and hosting a number of community projects for all ages, most notably through our community hub Living Well Tonbridge. But our community support is not just confined to our own town as we reach out to help those in need beyond our immediate area.

In Tonbridge

In addition to our community hub, we also have strong strong links with Tonbridge Area Churches Together and support local charity, High Hopes which actively shares the good news of the gospel with children in the local area.

In Europe

Among those we support further afield is the Charis Foundation in Romania. Charis is a Christian mission that aims to change the community by showing God’s love in practical ways.

In Africa

In Africa, we are supporting a church and community empowerment process in 10 villages close to Matongoro to the north of Mpwapwa Diocese, in the central highlands of Tanzania. Given the impact of climate change and erratic rains, we have recently added training on, and opportunities to adopt, new water management methods. This is being overseen by St Philip’s Theological College in Kongwa with the support of Mpwapwa Diocese.

Other organisations we support

We also periodically support a number of missionary societies, financially and through personal contact with individuals.

Through our Mission Action Group, we send money to disaster relief appeals. We also use this fund to support members of the church who go on short-term mission projects – students in their gap years, for example.

Our Mission Action Group

St Stephen’s Church, through its Mission Action Group, supports a number of partnerships throughout the UK and the world, showing God’s love by helping them to improve their lives and spreading the Christian Gospel. The Mission Action Group also send funds to aid in disasters and responds to one-off requests for funding.
